Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulamid, the village head of Yakila in Rafi Local Government in Niger State, Northcentral Nigeria abducted by suspected terrorists has not been released,News has learnt.
Sources told our reporter that his abductors have demanded N15 million but N4 million has so far been paid.
The Yakila village head has been in captivity for about three weeks.
Abubakar Sani Bello, Governor of Niger State, HumAngle learnt with some top officials of his cabinet visited Yakila village on Monday to raise their hopes on the safest return of their village head.
The governor said all possible efforts will be made to rescue him, though many villagers thought that the village head might have been killed as no further negotiations were initiated by his abductors.
Meanwhile, in Mashegu Local Government Area of the state, suspected terrorists have reportedly killed seven farmers on their farmland at Baban Rami village and Injured several others.
HumAngle learnt the incident happened on the eve of new year.
During the attack six persons died on the spot, while one other person later died at a nearby hospital.
Villagers said those who sustained wounds were admitted at an hospital for treatment.
Ahmed Matane, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) reiterated the government’s effort to end banditry in the state.
He said the state government is revamping its security architecture in order to address all security challenges confronting the state.
But Suleiman Chukuba,Chairman of Shiroro Local Government says more people may be displaced in the area by bandits.
While contending that the present security deficiency in Niger State is beyond council and state governments capacity, he urged the federal government to help the state in flushing out the criminals.
